Position Summary

We are seeking a Destination Development Manager with experience and a passion for the travel industry to join our team. This role is crucial in identifying and evaluating potential, uncovering opportunities for our company to expand its operations.. The successful candidate will be working with our VP of Sales & Partnerships, researching various cities to establish their viability for our products. The successful candidate will use their skills and knowledge to evaluate tourist demand, market competition and the presence of high-demand attractions. Additionally, this role involves engaging with local vendors and attractions to explore opportunities and viability for new product development. This role will primarily focus on new markets but will, in exceptional circumstances, support our existing markets and explore new opportunities on a project basis, in existing markets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

New Market Development

  • Research new cities, particularly in Europe and the US, to assess their potential tour operations; evaluating competitors and developing a deep understanding of the market to inform future decision making.
  • Work with VP of Sales & Partnerships to identify key attractions and experiences in potential destinations, especially those with ticketing challenges that present a market opportunity
  • Research and establish contact with local vendors, food establishments, and attractions in potential new destinations
  • Explore opportunities to create new products or experiences in collaboration with local partners, aligning with our company’s offerings
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations with recommendations on the most promising cities for expansion
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop expansion strategies based on research findings
  • Coordinate with local representatives to hand over new vendor relationships and product ideas once a city is selected for expansion

Market Intelligence

  • Work with the VP of Sales & Partnerships on an initiative to develop market intelligence. Valuable findings will be used by the organization to drive new product development & marketing strategy. 
  • Work with the VP of Sales & Partnerships to leverage market insights to provide strategic support to in destination teams before and during product development cycles, and in their efforts to expand and improve relationships with major attractions
  • Provide valuable knowledge, insight and support to company projects across the organisation.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential 

  • 3+ years of experience in product development, market research and analysis within the travel or tourism industry
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends
  • Proficiency in research tools, databases, and market analysis software 
  • Self-starter with excellent organisational and time-management skills

Desirable

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in development and managing relationships with vendors, suppliers and partners
  • A passion for travel and an in-depth understanding of the tourism industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Tourism or a related field
