The Fitter & Turner Position

As a Fitter & Turner, you will play a key role in the manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and repair of industrial components and equipment. The role offers diverse and challenging work, from precision machining to on-site installations.

Some of your duties will require you to be able to:

  • Study technical drawings, specifications, or samples to determine required dimensions and tolerances.
  • Operate and adjust lathes, milling machines, and other tools to machine metal and other materials.
  • Perform assembly, alignment, and fitting of machine components to precise tolerances.
  • Diagnose faults in machinery, dismantle components, and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and operational checks on machinery and equipment.
  • Inspect finished components to ensure accuracy using precision measuring instruments.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to meet project deadlines.
  • Assist in training apprentices.

Key Requirements:

  • Commitment to safe work practices.
  • Hold a mechanical trade qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working in an industrial jobbing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work on time.
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening.
